Ódry Árpád (1876–1937), a huszadik század első felének számottevő színészegyénisége; jelentőségét Bálint Lajos így méltatta:
„Nem a Rómeók és Ferdinándok önmagukban is népszerű szerepeiben találta meg igazi feladatait, hanem az emberábrázolás mély és összetett alakjaiban. Ha arra kellene felelnem, hogy mi volt művészetének legjellemzőbb vonása, azt mondanám, hogy az értelem és szenvedélyes indulat harca. Akik magánéletében ismerték, jól tudták róla, hogy eredetileg könnyen indulatba jövő, hangosan szenvedélyes jellem volt. […] Szenvedélyesen tudott hinni a maga hivatásában, és a gyűlölet és indulat minden hevességével szembeszállni azzal, amit a művészetben hazugnak tart.”

Árpád Ódry was a prominent actor of the first part of the 20th century. His importance was highlighted by Lajos Bálint with the following words:
‘He found his real challenge not in the portrayal of Romeos and Ferdinands, roles which are popular enough by themselves, but rather in the more difficult tasks of in-depth character formation. If I were to pinpoint what the most characteristic feature of his art was, I would say that it was the fight between sense and raging passion. Those who knew him in private knew well that he was a flamboyant personality, overly passionate altogether (…) He could believe with extreme fervour in his vocation, fighting with vehement hatred and passion against those whom he found to be dishonest in art.’
